Mission pack 1: Scourge of Armagon added this variable for unknown reasons - it was completely unused by the engine and the QuakeC and remains that way to this day. Like savedgamecfg , saved2 , saved3 , and saved4 (among others) it is saved to the config.cfg file when Quake exits.
