Direct Input, using DirectX. Instead of using Windows Mouse Input which is prone to software mouse acceleration, Direct Input bypasses the Windows software mouse acceleration.

in_dinput can turn Direct Input on and off while inside the FTE engine, but it will require a vid_restart .

Alternatively, Direct Input of the mouse can be turned on by the cmdline with -dinput
